Hi, We are proud to say that the new release 3.0 has successfully gone live. This special release marks the start of ‘compliance automation’ in ISOPlanner. In addition, we have added some minor features and minor bugs have been fixed. |
Please let us know if you have any questions or remarks! You can do this with the “Create a ticket” option accessible with the question mark icon in the top right corner of ISOPlanner. |
New features in release 3.0
These new features all contribute to ‘compliance automation’ in which we aim to let you save time and make your processes more consistent and faster. Next to the feature in the software, we will release many use cases, examples and templates in the weeks to come so we make implementation as easy as possible. If you have a specific need, let us know! |
Special action! All new features will be freely available for all subscription types Basic, Business and Premium for the duration of 6 months after our Compliance Automation Event on November 24th. At the start of June 2024, The Business and Premium subscriptions cover the above features with a limit of 10 workflows for Business. |
Document approval module The new document module lets you approve items in the Library easily with a few clicks. You can choose approvers who will receive a task which they can use to approve the item. The latest approval status is shown in the Library. If you need more complex scenario’s, you can create approval templates in which you can pre-define approvers and integrate with Power Automate to handle the approval flow. For example, you can create a worklfow that first let’s the team manager approve and secondly sends an approval request to the board of directors. You can notify approvers using e-mail or Microsoft Teams for example, but the sky is the limit! |
Module for KPI’s and Forms KPI’s can be created that hold data records for reporting over time. KPI’s can have a number of data types like text, number or true/false. KPI’s can be grouped together on Forms. A form can be used in a task template to let the user fill in the form. For example, you can ‘upgrade’ your current task checklists to forms with KPI’s. This will not only give you more flexibility in what you can ask from the user but you will also get the ability to aggregate this data and create dashboards for it. For example, you can create a form for checking laptop security with KPI’s for whether Bitlocker, Antivirus and Biometrics are correctly enabled. You can create a task in the annual plan to periodically check this manually but you can also get this data through your Microsoft Intune API and send it to the ISOPlanner API with Power Automate. This will fully automate these otherwise manual tasks, saving valuable time. |
The concept of ‘Events’ Events in ISOPlanner are things that happen. Examples are incidents, a change proposal or an external threat. You can define these yourself and the difference with tasks is that they are not actionable. They have no deadline for example but they are ‘containers’ for things that must be done to handle the event. The event can contain tasks and Power Automate flows can be triggered when they happen. This allows for a very flexible system to automate your processes, like handling an production line malfunction. You can define events with templates and create pre-defined subtasks that are assigned to specific users. A workflow can read these events and act accordingly, sending teams and users tasks and notifications and storing the status and evidence in the event. In the end, the event acts like an evidence container that helps you clearly show the auditor how you handled the event. |
Integration with Microsoft Power Automate We mentioned before that Microsoft Power Automate is integrated into ISOPlanner to run workflows. We will extent this to other vendors like Zapier in the nearby future. These integrations will give you enormous power to automate and scale your compliance needs. 1. For prevention, like integrating the compliance controls into your processes. For example supplier assesment or HR onboarding. 2. For gathering evidence by populating KPI data from your external apps and systems. For example checking admin roles in ERP systems and backup retention policies in Azure. 3. This comes together in ISOPlanner where you can give the auditor a complete view of all that has happened and how you are continuously improving your ISMS! |
Microsoft Power Automate connector status At the time of this writing, the connector module for Power Automate is being certified by Microsoft. As soon as certification is done we will let you know so you can start building your own workflows! |
Suggestions If you have any suggestions for other improvements, please let us know! Requests for new reports are also welcome. |
